Final post...from first straight to last. Breaking news....Oxford Road, A Renovation is complete. Almost 2 years ago!.What can i say except i was so busy this blog got swept to the side by the ridiculous amount of work that had to be carried out. i will get around to posting the before and after shots just as a record to myself so i never lose the precious pictures that basically tell their own story. I am about to start another blog. one that at the time of starting this one, was not even conceivable but life is full of twists and turns and hopefully I'll be more engaging in this next one.
In summation, Oxford Road nearly messed me up big time when it was at it's most demanding. I will never forget having to run out the door in total frustration at things just not going as planned despite ridiculous levels of determination. The flip side to those awful moments is the enduring and rewarding better-than-could-ever-have-dreamed-of-home that I now live in. there is honestly not a day goes by without me catching a glimpse of my pantry, my workshop, any of my fireplaces or some other small nook in my home that doesn't catapult me back into the moment that it was created with so much love and grit that brought out the best in my abilities that I never knew I had in me!
I am blessed to be living at Oxford Road, never for one moment take it for granted and will always cherish the hours and days I spent here with my Dad getting on with whatever needed doing. Even when I wasn't there he carried on driven by the same passion for old houses that I have definately inherited. Needless to say Eric played a major part in bringing my designs and ideas to life. No sketch was too daunting for Eric, even after heated debates about why I wanted things my way or noo way he always cracked on and produced exactly what I was after with relentless energy. Had I not caught him freshly headed for retirement and available to work endlessly at Oxford Road I would have been in trouble. A loft conversion would be the icing on the cake if I can just persuade him the horses can wait and he needs the beer money!

Sash windows - the mamoth task begins!
At last, I think we found Neo, The One who can be trusted to restore the 9 windows back to as good as when they were first put in. Apart from ALL the painstaking prep work and finally painting which will follow by myself. Not just inside either, outside aswell! That is only half the story with regard to the lounge bay as all the masonry paint needs stripping off. Have chatted to several blasters, leading me to conclude that this is not an option as it will damage the "sandstone" that lies beneath. Well, hopefully lies beneath as after hours of paint removal and expense, it may reveal knackered stone or concrete or a mixture of both which will then need re-painting!
Dad made a start on paint removal on one window today, his first job at Ox Rd. I took over and found wood worm in the sills, good job found it now as it can treated along with other worm in stair treads and fllooring.
Got padlock off shed, potential workshop for furniture restoration in the future!
Feels like slow progress as listed all jobs and workmen for the lounge, will form plan over next week or so to hget hings really under way.
